This is the first of many blog posts to come. I have high hopes, and if anyone learns anything from this — about web development or me — I'll consider this a success!
I like to make lists and goals to keep track of what I want to accomplish and feel a sense of success when I cross items off! So what better way to start my blog than with a list of my goals for the blog!
I want to give back to the community that has given me so much. There are many great people out there on youtube, podcasts, udemy, and pluralcast; I could go on. In an upcoming blog, I will go over my favorite resources, but the point is that so many have given to the community for free (or at a really low cost) to help change people's lives, and if I can help just one person, I will consider that a success.
I've found that teaching or helping others is one of the best ways to learn or reinforce your knowledge. It helps solidify a familiar process or possibly learn a new approach to a problem you already knew how to solve. I love to help others solve problems and learn something new about their project(s). I believe, as a developer, you are only as good as your team! I am seen as a go-to resource, whether that is just a family member trying to figure out how to update their machine to a co-worker looking for an opinion, or a classmate trying to fix an error. I never turn down an opportunity to help, and I love to help others.
Through this blog, I hope that my team and or future employer can understand each other as well as possible. It is often hard to get a full grasp of who someone is through the standard tech interview (or any interview) process. Sometimes stuff gets lost in translation or never translated at all. Communicating effectively is an important part of being a great developer, and I hope to demonstrate that through this blog. To my future team or employer, if you want to know how I think, how I express myself, or what I am curious about, this is a great place to start!
Please stay tuned for my next post, where we will begin to talk about topics that interest me, and that can hopefully provide someone with useful information.
